Julia’s journey as a fibre artist has involved research and exploration in many areas: dry and wet felting start simple but can demand subtlety to embed lustre and surface texture. Plant Dyeing without mordants is exacting and unpredictable. Creating pure tones of natural colour is time-consuming and has demanded high breeding standards. Throughout, her abiding inspiration Is nature in all her forms both visually and through poetry which is a regular companion to her pieces. Recently, she has learned new techniques with fellow Member of the SDC, Molly Williams leading to her small Felted Sculptures. Julia exhibits regularly and welcomes commissions.
Julia’s commitment to Slow Art results in a few Collectors’ items each year.(Her Heritage Shawls have been handknitted by Marion Keightley) and Julia is involved in all other processes. Julia now lives and works in Wiltshire, both on her own and in collaboration with others, especially wood artists for her 3D pieces.
